TraceTogether app - Singapore

“Tech will transform from something we actively use to a more seamless integrated experience that is ‘on’ all the time.”

– Daniel Beak, Co-founder of Nodes

It is a community-driven tracing app used to stop the spread of Covid–19, developed by the Government Technology Agency (GovTech), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH), Singapore. This is developed by the Singapore people to help control the spread of Covid-19.

TraceTogether app works by exchanging short-distance Bluetooth signals between phones to detect other participating Trace Together users in close adjacency. The Records of these encounters are stored locally on each user’s phone and these will be shared only with the MOH for the ultimate purpose of contact tracing. TraceTogether notifies the user quickly if he/she has been exposed to COVID-19 through close contact with other TraceTogether users. This app allows the Ministry of Health (MOH) to give the user timely care and guidance, safeguarding them and those around them. This facilitates the contact tracing process, and allows the contact tracers to inform TraceTogether users who are close contacts of COVID-19 cases more quickly. This allows the users to take the requisite action sooner, such as monitoring his own health closely for signs of flu-like symptoms. TraceTogether helps the user ensure that they don’t spread the virus to their loved ones unknowingly. It also helps us aid the work of contact tracers and healthcare workers by combating the spread of COVID-19 together. The App’s functionality will cease once the pandemic ends. TraceTogether is designed for use by people in Singapore. To register in this app, the use will need a valid NRIC, FIN, or a valid document of the user’s current stay in Singapore. The TraceTogether app can be downloaded from the Android Google Play or Apple App Store.
